Every year the Lenexa Arts Council sponsors one free public concert. In 2006 the council presented a nostalgic trip back to WWII with a concert and reenactment of an authentic USO Canteen Show and Dance! The audience enjoyed a 17 piece band playing hits reminiscent of the great bands like; Miller, Dorsey, Goodman and Ellington on Armed Forces Day!

The 2007 free public concert on May 7th will take place in conjunction with the City of Lenexa’s 100th Birthday Celebration! Beginning at 7:00 p.m. that evening the Fort Riley Jazz Band (a 20 piece ensemble) will be performing on stage at Sar-Ko-Par-Trails Park until 9:00 p.m. The public is invited and encouraged to come out and enjoy this talented group of musicians! Incase of inclement weather please call the Lenexa Community Center Office at 913-541-0209.
